Siemens Healthineers Receives Innovative Technology Designation from Vizient, Inc.

02/10/2017

Siemens Healthineers has received Innovative Technology designations for seven products from Vizient, Inc. The designations were based on reviews by hospital experts who attended Vizient’s Innovative Technology Exchange in September 2016. The event provided medical technology suppliers the opportunity to demonstrate their product and gain direct feedback from 1,300 onsite clinical experts and health care providers.

During Vizient’s event, products were evaluated based on their innovative qualities and ability to impact and improve clinical care, safety, or an organization’s care and business model. After the evaluation process, following products from Siemens Healthineers received the Innovative Technology designation:

  • Sysmex® CS-5100
  • Multitom Rax
  • Biograph mCT Flow™
  • syngo MR E11 software
  • ACUSON SC2000™ ultrasound system
  • Wide-angle Breast Tomosynthesis
  • ACUSON S Family™ of ultrasound systems, HELX™ Evolution with Touch Control

Siemens Healthineers offers groundbreaking technologies in medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics, and clinical IT as well as an expanding portfolio of advanced therapies and molecular diagnostics, all to help healthcare providers improve patient outcomes while reducing cost. These products represent Siemens Healthineers commitment to creating solutions to support customers in achieving that goal.

“Vizient uses a panel of experts from member hospitals to help identify products that meet certain criteria for designation as ‘innovative’ and worth further evaluation at their own facilities,” said Debbie Archer, director of procurement and leader of Vizient’s Innovative Technology program for suppliers. “After a review of the seven products from Siemens Healthineers, members attending Vizient’s Innovative Technology Exchange agreed each of these solutions offer unique and incremental benefit over other products available on the market today, and recommended them for an Innovative Technology designation.”

Vizient, Inc. represents the combined strengths of the organizations formerly known as VHA Inc., University HealthSystem Consortium, Novation and MedAssets’ Spend and Clinical Resource Management. Since 2003, nearly 2200 new and innovative products and technologies have been submitted through the Vizient Innovative Technology program. Vizient works with member-led councils and task forces to identify and review potentially innovative products. If it is determined that a product is innovative, a contract may be awarded outside of Vizient’s competitive bid cycle.
