Siemens Healthcare NOVIUS® Lab Named “Best in KLAS” for Fourth Consecutive Year

02/04/2012

Siemens laboratory information system topped the chart for product quality and posted an 89% “buy-again” response among survey participants

Siemens Healthcare has been awarded the 2011 “Best in KLAS” award for laboratory information systems (LIS) by KLAS, an independent healthcare research firm.¹ This is the fourth year in a row that NOVIUS Lab has achieved this award, which is given to a vendor or product that scores the highest in its industry segment and provides the broadest operational and clinical impact to healthcare organizations.

The KLAS rankings are based on a series of surveys conducted with hospital and clinic executives, administrators, physicians, nurses, and other directors and managers with business responsibilities. Respondents are asked about their experiences with their vendors and products. NOVIUS Lab received the highest ranking (82.1) of the top six laboratory systems evaluated for the report. Additionally, of NOVIUS Lab users surveyed by KLAS, 89% said they would buy the solution again.

Siemens has continuously made improvements to this solution to help labs keep pace with the rapidly changing regulatory environment. For example, the solution includes functionality to help providers attest for Meaningful Use of electronic medical records. The solution also was built on an open architecture that allows communications with a variety of external systems, enabling the NOVIUS Lab Public Health Reporting Interface to support both local and LOINC® (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) standard vocabularies for observations and ordered tests.

NOVIUS Lab is a rules-based LIS that helps laboratory professionals manage higher volumes and maintain quality, and is easy to configure to the specific needs of the laboratory environment. NOVIUS Lab interfaces with reference laboratories, point-of-care data managers, instruments, lab automation systems, clinical repositories, and financial systems.
