03/02/2013

Today, Siemens Healthcare announced that the American College of Radiology (ACR) has selected the company’s syngo®.via¹ advanced visualization software for use in the ACR Education Center in Reston, Va. The decision provides more opportunities for radiologists to become proficient in using Siemens software for 3D routine and advanced reading. Siemens will be showcasing syngo.via and a complete suite of imaging IT solutions, along with Siemens Image Sharing & Archiving² (ISA), a cloud-based vendor neutral archive, in booth #2641 at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2013 Annual Conference and Exhibition, from March 3 – 7, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

“The ACR is committed to advancing the science of radiology and the value that radiologists bring to patients,” said Harvey Neiman, MD, FACR, CEO, American College of Radiology. “Ensuring that the Education Center offers some of the industry’s most contemporary solutions helps the ACR fulfill this mission.”

The ACR Education Center will mainly use syngo.via in computed tomography angiography (CTA) and virtual colonoscopy (CTC) training courses. The ACR Education Center is an innovative, interactive learning environment with a lineup of next-generation courses on new and evolving technologies, such as advanced visualization that are designed to provide hands-on experience. Individual workplaces emulate a real clinical environment for up to 60 attendees. After completion of the educational program, attendees receive a Certificate of Proficiency.

syngo.via is a multimodality advanced visualization solution built on a client-server architecture. It delivers a comprehensive suite of 3D routine and advanced reading applications for radiology, oncology, cardiology and neurology and drives an integrated workflow from case preparation to reading to sharing. syngo.via along with its mobile applications³ defines a new standard in image access ranging from workstations to web-enabled laptop PCs and hand-held devices.
