EMIT II Plus Opiate AssayScreen for a broad range of opiates

The EMIT® II Plus Opiate Assay is intended for the qualitative and semiquantitative analysis of opiates in human urine at a cutoff value of 300 ng/mL or 2000 ng/mL. The SAMHSA initial test cutoff level is 2000 ng/mL.

Features & Benefits

Opiates are a class of compounds that includes morphine, codeine, and heroin. Morphine and codeine are naturally occurring alkaloids that are found in opium, a substance exuded from the unripe seed pod of the opium poppy, Papaver somniferum. Heroin is a semisynthetic derivative of morphine. Morphine and codeine are potent analgesics and legitimate drugs. The presence of opiates in the urine indicates the use of heroin, morphine, or codeine. To screen directly for heroin, please see the EMIT II Plus 6-Acetylmorphine Assay.

The EMIT II Plus Opiate Assay provides:

  • High sensitivity to hydrocodone and hydromorphone
  • Excellent precision—all within-lab (total) CVs ≤0.9% or less across the assay range
  • Dual cutoffs available with one assay
  • Ready-to-use liquid reagents, calibrators, and controls
  • >99% correlation to reference method (GC/MS)

Applications are available for the Viva-Jr®, Viva-E®, Viva-ProE®, V-Twin® drug testing systems and AU® Series analyzers
